Hold That Thought!

Have you ever put your mouth on something or someone because in the moment it seemed that you had all of the information you needed to make an intelligent assessment of the situation? Yep, me too, been there done that.

Life will teach you to hold your opinion since things are rarely what they seem in the moment. I have learned that I don’t have to have an opinion or a voice in many of the matters that are presented to me. I have also learned that life will give you many opportunities to weigh in without knowing the whole matter.

When you have had to eat crow enough, you learn to reserve judgement, or defer judgment all together, since most of what we see is only to distract us from what we should be doing. I found out that I have enough drama of my own without trying to wrap my mind around somebody else’s situation. This kind of distraction can serve as a derailment to destroy the path to our next place.

I keep reminding myself that I am going somewhere in life. Someone is waiting on me to hand them the baton. The longer I stay distracted and entangled with the cares of something that’s not my business, the longer I am delaying the destiny of myself and the person that is waiting on me to pass my piece off to them.

It is so easy to get caught up and make it all about ourselves, but when we get a revelation that all of what we experience in life is BIGGER than us. The sooner we will get over ourselves and keep it moving, the sooner we can get on with the real business on our lives. The times that we’re living in is clear proof that we need to be in our rightful place. It doesn’t matter that things didn’t happen the way we thought it would or that other people are out of place, or betrayed us or didn’t keep their word. None of this caught God by surprise, He already knew who would do what and when.

Our lives are the sum total of our decisions. We can’t control what happens to us, we can only control what we do about what happens to us. We may not be able to avoid some of the “seemingly” set backs in our lives, but we can surely decide how we will move forward. Life is a huge responsibility not to be taken likely. None of us asked to be born, but since we are here, let’s make the best of it. Life is only ten percent of what happens to us and ninety percent of how we respond to what happens to us.

I have made so many discoveries in the last eighteen plus years that have changed my life and made me a better person. What’s crazy about this is that I never knew how far off of the path I was until I started to hunger and thirst for the right direction in life. There is a way that seems right, but all I was doing was bumping my head.

If I had a lesson to share, it would be to get in your set place and commit to growing up. Stop being wishy washy and settle down and get on a path of continual growth; not just to make money or leave an inheritance for your children, but to become a better person, i.e. the best version of yourself. God placed something in all of us that the world needs. Find out what that “it” is for you and stay on the hunt for it. Don’t be satisfied with enough when more than enough is available.

Stay hungry. Stay on the path of perpetual increase in your personal development, worth and value. Don’t tap out too soon. God’s best is more than you can think or imagine, so whatever you’re thinking, best and better are always available.

Thank you for being on this amazing journey with me. I am excited for our future. God’s best looks like something. Don’t settle for the settled for life!
