Be Intentional

Even as I sit here listening intently for the voice of God I am reminded how critical it is to hear right.  There are so many voices in our head. We cannot take for granted that the first thing that comes to our mind is the right thing to do; it may not be a bad thing, it may actually be a good thing, but we have to make sure it’s a God thing for us.

Especially now, it is critical that we become even more familiar with the voice of God and that we stay connected to the things and people of God. We have been isolated from coming together socially in gathering places, whether it’s with family, friends, co-workers, places of worship, etc, we have to stay connected to those things and people that will keep us on the right track.

I have to be intentional to get in God’s face on a daily basis, to read the word of God, and to listen to the word of God. These days if people are not talking to you on a routine basis we can get lost in the shuffle. Where as before, people could lay their eyes on us or know when we fall back from our normal pattern.

I have witnessed first hand people change their posture regarding the things that they used to be so emphatic about. This is disturbing because that is just how subtle and crafty the enemy is; little by little we begin to fall back from the things we used to be so passionate about. Now with all of the other distractions trying to steal our attention it can become very challenging to keep all the balls in the air at the same time. Before long we begin to reshuffle our priorities. The things that had been staples have now become optional.

God commands us to seek first the kingdom of God as our main focus. When we don’t keep the main thing as the main thing, we rarely see it coming, but holes are being poked into our resolve to keep standing faith strong. It takes focus. It takes being intentional. It takes constant evaluation of ourselves. We have to take inventory of our thoughts and actions. We have to hold ourselves accountable to others. Where there is no accountability there is no progress.

God never meant for us to do life on our own. Hebrews 6:12 admonishes us to follow those who through faith and patience have inherited the promises of God. God has a plan for our lives, to do us good and not harm and to give us an expected end. However, when we get sidetracked or discouraged by life situations, we delay the plan and purpose God has for our lives. Keep in mind, God has more than us as individuals on His mind.

It is so easy to get off of our righteous regiment of putting God first and staying connected to the things and people of God. We make a mistake when we take our presence in the lives of others for granted. We make a mistake when we take for granted the need to stay connected to the voice God has given us to help us through the choppy waters of life. Make no mistake about it, we cannot accomplish the will and purpose of God in isolation. I believe the enemy loves nothing more than to get us by ourselves to play tricks with our minds. If we are already feeling some kind of way it won’t take much to push us out of the presence of God, the things of God and the people of God.

Now is not the time to remain the same, now is the time to dig in deeper and keep climbing and leaning in to the things of God. We are called to keep going and growing in the things of God. Don’t be deceived, God has not changed His mind about what He has promised. We have a tendency to get distracted about the other things that come up in the middle of the plan. We have to learn how to manage the blessings and the challenges that come along with them.  The wisdom of God will make us skillful and handling life situations without making us feel like pulling our hair out or worst.

It’s report card time. No one can grade us like we can. We know the truth. We know what  we’re doing and not doing. We know where we have thrown in the towel. We know how far we have gotten away from the things that have brought us closer to our place of peace.

I am constantly having to check myself. It is so easy to look up and a month has passed since I last did that thing that brought me peace or made me feel that I was contributing to the well-being of others by improving myself, in every aspect of life.

Today is a great day to be intentional, regroup, and refocus.

As always, thank you for reading along with me. I pray something you read has blessed you and made a difference in your life. Keep sharing and caring. Someone is waiting to be liberated or stirred to get back on track.
